Your relationship with your therapist sets the foundation for everything that happens in therapy. They focus on helping create a safe enough environment that allows you to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences without feeling judged.
Therapy can be difficult work. Although you might wish for something to change in your life, you can simultaneously resist it because the unknown can be scary and sometimes what we know is easier to accept than what we don't. In our work I will encourage you to look at aspects of yourself or issues from your past and/or present that are stirring up uncomfortable feelings. I will challenge you to try out new perspectives and support you in facilitating change when needed.
Despite what it might seem, we are all moving towards optimal states of health, and even suffering is meant to help us heal. The challenge is that in order to grow and learn we sometimes must face what troubles us most. Psychotherapy helps you come in contact with the parts of your life that are uncomfortable and to work through the changes you would like to make in a supportive environment.
